the health goth movement is growing 

HEALTH GOTH. THIS IS MY AESTHETIC. 

See, I’d classify these things as jockwave rather than health goth. Health goth involves actually working out (which is why you’d totally be health goth rather than jockwave), whereas jockwave is the darkening and making fashionable of jock aesthetics with little or no intention of actually exercising. The leather shorts and really cool jacket in Nylon’s photoset would be fucking awful to actually work out in, so they would be terrible for health goth. Can you imagine how disgusting it would be to work out in leather anything?

Health goth is actual functional workout clothes in monochromatic color schemes. Joggers (non-leather), shorts and leggings, running shoes, a general air of malaise.

Jockwave is pieces coded as athletic with no athletic function. Fashion sneakers, leather joggers, monochromatic jerseys, an ironic and somewhat kitschy performative masculinity. I may have completely made jockwave up, but it’s actually a much better description of what this style is than health goth, which was an already established thing and literally revolves around working out.
